We use Notes R5 here. It is my experience that hyperlinks in Notes that start with HTTP:// work. If you don't include HTTP://, then the link appears just as text.

We also found that when sending links to files the first example works while the second example does not work.

***Example 1. Works.
file:\\c:\apps\00000000.jpg

***Example 2. Does NOT work.
file://c:/apps/00000000.jpg

Also, while creating the link, the link always appears as text until the e-mail is sent.
