I'm surprised Craig Berntson does not know this. Gartner stated categorically that VFP is not a viable choice for new development. It came to my attention in the Gartner Healthcare IT bulletin taken by some of my clients. I first heard of it in or around 1996-1997 and the sentiment has been recycled several times since.
Like most significant statements, this one continues to reverberate because it was not effectively rebutted by MS at the time and Gartner has seen no need to say different.
