>I have been a quiet observer of UT for the past few months, and recently I have been attending Craig Berntson's foxpro user group in Salt Lake, which by the way has been a great experience. Following Craig's advice, I am planning on attending GLGDW next week. This is my first conference, and I was wondering if anyone has any rookie advise/tips for me?
The may conference in Orlando was my first VFP conference. I was a bit intimidated, but people were very friendly. Try to pluck up some courage to introduce yourself to people. Having a roomate is a great way to make it easier to mingle. You get to meet the people they know, and it is less intimidating to head down to the evening social event with a 2nd person.
Some general FoxPro tips (not sure if you wanted these)
- attend the local VFP meeting (as you are doing), it is a great place to learn and to meet other developers. This can lead to jobs, people to hire, or someone to take emergency database calls while you are backpacking through Thailand for 3 months
- buys books... learn more about the stuff you are already doing, find out about new stuff to implement
- ditto for magazines, get work to subscribe to one, you can subscribe to another personally
- get involved in the online forums. UT, West-wind or others
