You may have already considered it... if not, look at phdbase - I think you can download it in the files section here. It allows really quick soundex searching of memo fields- eg search for the word "fracture" in a million-row table, get the 200-row result in under a second.

One issue: support for the product seems to have gone into hiding for the last few years, which is a risk.
