Hello all:

First of all, sorry for my english. I'm not native. Now the words.

I have just posted on the download section WWF-VFP, a FREE (yeah!, free) tool to avoid VFP decompilation of any EXE VFP application (any version of VFP).
Please, take in mind that this is a pre-release application so I need feedback from any of you.

Every serious developer knows the existence of commercial tools available on the market which are able to reproduce the original source code from a codified compiled Microsoft Visual FoxPro application. Due the nature of Microsoft Visual FoxPro engine until now there was not possible to avoid the decompilation. WWF-VFP is a tool born to protect the Microsoft Visual FoxPro EXE applications from decompilation.

WWF-VFP has this name due to the following coincidence: a fox is an animal and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is an organization dedicated to protect the animals. WWF-VFP does not have any relation with this great organization but will protect our fox pet.

For the moment, this is the first release of the tool, so I need feedback from the users to develop a better way to protect VFP's EXE files. Below you will find recomendations to get the better results.

• Do not codified your EXE file. It's not needed. WWF-VFP will encrypt your application using 176 bits and will be compress it. If the application is codified the ratio of compression will be reduced and it will be neccesary more time to load the final application for the end user.
• You can modify the icon of the protected application but you need external tools to do that.
• You need to distribute the following files with your application if not included: Microsoft Visual Basic 6 SP5 Runtimes and AUNZIP32.DLL

WWF-VFP will create a protected application with the same name than your application but starting with "PP". You cannot change this letters. If you do, you cannot run the protected application. Once the application is protected you should not include your original EXE file, but the protected PPfilename.exe (where filename.exe is the original name of your application).

2. LICENSE

You are free to use this tool to protect your application but you can not distribute this application under any kind of concept. I have all the rights to distribute or to stop to distribute this application. You can not create a tool similar WWF-VFP using this application. You don't have to pay any royalties for your protected applications neither for using this tool but you are obligated to hear, at least one time, all my music works available at http://mp3.com/grundman

Doing that, you will be generating royalties wich will be completely donated for an humanitary cause: Médicins Sans Frontiers (http://www.msf.org). I'm an unasuming composer who only try to collect funds for the MSF Office in Spain (http://www.msf.es). This is your only compromise. This agreement must be taken as an honour code between you and I.

There will not responsability of me in any of your applications, even if your application can be decompilated finally. This tool is free and is your risk if you use. If you have inquiries about this application you can contact me through the contact tab on my page at http://mp3.com/grundman

For the moment, this application is on pre-release. In short will be completely published. What does it mean? Whenever you launch the protected application the original file (the VFP EXE file) will be recreated in the app directory. In this way you can compare if you can decompile the protected file vs the original one.

Sincerely,

Jorge Grundman
