>As you mentioned, one of the things that we did in the Enterprise version was to do away with the use of global/public memvars in order to make the environment more stable. As I'm sure you know, when certain errors occur, VFP will blow away your memvars.

>Another thing that our Enterprise version did was make it much easier to customize the default functionality. Let's face it, everyone has their own ideas on how certain things should work. With the use of classes and the code broken down into functional components in methods, it is now very easy to modify, enhance, or replace default functionality.

>You also mentioned our demo version. The great thing about having a demo version is that we can always just tell someone that if they have a question about something they don't have to take our word for it, they can try it out for themself. Plus, the demo has the majority of the functionality that's in our full version and the help file is detailed and thorough enough to actually let users create a full-functioning application.

Right - that's why I mentioned it. My recommendation not to upgrade (which was approved by my boss) was based on our current needs, and the fact that I was pretty much the only Foxer left in the shop. The differences across the versions were too big this time, and the programmers before me were using the same naming convention (i.e. their local variables also had names like slc* sln* etc), and manipulated the existing public variables a lot, so I was pretty much marooned on 6.0b - moving to the next version would require more than just me. I could have managed the transition, but the price would be that someone else would have to do the rest of the work for a month or more.

BTW, if you're interested in the fixes I applied (specially the converter from version to version - I've bundled 5.0x to 6.0, 6.0 to 6.0b all in one .prg which can be run on a project done in any of the mentioned versions, unlimited number of times, plus some things I did in the classes), email me.
