I don't know how far the client has taken this particular version of COBOL (MicroFocus), but the release I'm looking at includes (among other things): intrinsic functions, commit/rollback, (procedure and data item) POINTERS ! ...
And, .NET supports COBOL :)
(Or COBOL supports .NET ... depending on your point of view).
