No jesting here...
You seem to collude the issues of customer requests and implementation. I don't have a problem with the customer request. Sophisticated developers implement simple solutions that are less complex.
Customers drive requirements. Developers drive the implementation...
Again, it is far better to have your underlying columns match the order of the grid columns, instead of having the underlying columns in one order and then have the grid columns in another order. SQL provides the flexibility of arranging the columns in a different order than the physical column order.
You brought up the issue of how much trouble it is to swap recordsources in a grid. Yet, I don't have that problem. And, Dataclas does it automatically with SPT cursors. You claim it to be a PITA. Your implemenation causes the issue in this case.

As for your "legal" arguments, you can spout words like "adjudge" all you like, but behind it all you are still pushing an argument past logic to an absurd position.

Perhaps that is your opinion. However, the argument holds water. Before poo-pooing it, why don't you try it...??? Employ that scientific method you are so fond of. Call one of your "boffins"..< bg >...
