Charles - thanks for the pointer

I do not wish to shut windows down from VFP; I only want the VFP app to shut down if the user shuts the system down. The default behaviour is 'Cannot close VFP' or some similar message. I do not know if the user wants to shutdown or restart, so the API invoked from within VFP would have to reask the question: shutdown or reboot.

I am going to do one more test without referencing a form - just closing the connection to Oracle and hoping that the shutdown will work - gotta send this first or I might lose it <g>
