Just wondering what your thoughts might be about the following situtation. I have two application namely a subscription and fundraising application on our local network. As part of the subscription application I need to access information from the fundraising application for reporting purposes only. No need to add, edit etc the data. I see no need to incorporate into the subscription application an import process to store the data into two places and then have to be concern with constantly updating the information. Rather I think it would be better simply to query the information from the fundraising application that I need and store the result set in a temporary cursor for reporting purposes. I plan on adding a maintenance feature that would store the location of the fundraising database should the database path ever change. One question that I have concern access to the fundraising database - not everyone in the office has access to the fundraising application - would the network people have to give access to the fundraising tables. If that is the case I suppose I could add to my application a security feature that show only those peole who have access to the fundraising application and then should someone try to run the report who doesn't have access to it I would then inform them that they don't have access. Please let me know your thoughts about this.
Thanks
