I don't buy into the philosophy that you're doing the client a favor by "cutting corners" (or being "more efficient" ... as it was posed).

I compare a "default grid" vs one that has been customized (eg. Captions, Formats, column sizes, whatever) to be preferable and more productive from a User point of view (in my experience). I compare a "default grid" to a cinder block (ie. a cheap seat); it serves it's "purpose" but if that's your only criteria, you have a pretty narrow view.

I also don't buy that it takes 5x longer to produce a custom grid (eg. 100 vs $500).

If one really wants to be "efficient", then perhaps one shouldn't even be using Grids at all (ie. use a BROWSE).
