Just to give you an idea I went to google.com and got 3,580,000 hits against Stewart and 486,000 against Steward, if that means anything. Some well known Stewarts:

Jimmy Stewart (actor and U.S. Air Force General)
Martha Stewart (food and crafts on TV)

In Scotland The House of Stewart is famous for having produced many Kings and Queens. In fact my family is related to them so I have seen this named used before. :)
