Dear John
Sigh. Any chance of doing a logic or scientific method paper in your course? If you keep making ABSOLUTE statements, *1 million* examples are not a proof in your favour. But a single negative example, no matter how small , means your absolute position is wrong. You need to understand this as soon as possible.
As for "proof"; sometimes all that glitters is not gold.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
