>My apologies for misunderstanding, there's obviously a language problem between English & American - I thought your statement was quite plain ("I write shrink wrapped software, and we WANT it to be slow. Why? Because we know that in two years the hardware will be able to run it fast").
Ok, lets put it this way, in the development cycle, the overall speed of the application isn't the decideding factor on what features are included, and what aren't. Therefore, if the app doesn't run as fast as it can, thats a good thing, since it will be able to perform very well on tomarrows hard ware.
That does NOT mean the users will not be able to use the app at a suitable speed, like you say. The application performance is more than suitable (my app and XP), and once the hardware gets beefier, the performance will be exceptional.
But this is all besides the point I was trying to make.
