Do you still have the SQL for the lost view?
If so you can easily create a RV using code
CREATE REMOTE VIEW myview CONNECTION myconn/myodbc as Select... where ...
You can then open the View in the View Designer or something like eview (downloadable from here, much better than the View Designer) and sort out your field types and update rules.
Long term I recommend that you either:
1) download genview.prg from the UT and regularly create prg definitions for all your views, or
2) Get a case tool like xCase or similar, define the views there and let xCase handle all the backend complexity for whatever backend you choose.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
