>Veteran's Day has kind of lost it's popularity in the wake of Vietnam. It's still a federal holiday (or at least the nearest Monday to it), but it is largely ignored. As Dave points out, it's still observed in small towns and there will be parades. But, if I weren't a federal employee, I'd barely notice it.

It is quite a big deal here. People don't necessarily attend memorial activities but nearly everyone wears poppies.
