Ours are plastic. I find it interesting that Canada really is gung-ho on this holiday since we have had such a small miliatry since the 2nd world war. It must be because that Canadian military guy invented the popply poem ("In Flanders Fields"). But strangely the poppy wearing came from the US, then spread to Canada and Europe.
