It is going to depend on what hardware your intended audience typically uses. My experience in supporting users at various businesses has been that most people are running at a resolution of 800x600 or better. So, 800x600 should be a safe resolution to use.

You can use the sysmetric() function to determine the resolution of a system, and show a message to the user if they are at a resolution lower than you application requires.
