>By the way I am a veteran and have never had Veterans Day off. I told my wife she and the kid’s get the day off but I do not because I am a veteran and someone has to protect society. :)
Interesting history. I don't have any direct war stories. My dad talks about his mother crying at the grocery store trying to get the owner to give her more than her butter ration because company was coming over. Apparently margarine in those days was terrible looking and tasting stuff. My dad also said one of his uncles was in the French underground. My grandmother-inlaw was a radio operator in NewFoundland for the convoy ships. I've never asked her about it because my father-in-law says she refused to talk about anything to do with the war.
Does "vetran" mean you have served in the military or that you have had a tour of duty in combat?
