Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I have four SQL2000 servers, 2 with a smallish number of databases (under 200) and 2 with many more databases (over 1 thousand). The servers with the smaller number of databases on them run my optimization jobs just fine. The servers with the large number of databases chrashes when I optimize all user tables. When I select anywhere from 150 - 250 databases it works just fine. The crash is a memory allocation error and requires a reboot. Dividing the optimization job up into smaller jobs isn't really an option as the number of databases grows continually. We never delete records out of our databases, only mark them as deleted (legal issues there) so is database optimization even needed? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
