Ah, a question I can answer! < G >

The executables for an application, ie MS Office, are typically installed on the Citrix server in the normal fashion, with one caveat. There is an 'install' mode which is invoked via the command line "CHANGE USER /INSTALL" command of automatically by invoking the app's setup via Add/Remove Programs. What this does is allow program DLLs to install to the \SYSTEM32 directory so they are available to all users, as well as points registry entries to All Users and/or Default User as appropriate. When NOT in install mode, Citrix and WTS redirect access to the Current User hive. If this is the first time the app is run, setting are copied from Default User into the specific user's registry, and any future changes are saved only in that user's hive. There are some misbehaved applications which ignore this redirection, those are the ones you have to watch out for. There are generally not any contention issues with apps that use standard calls to access the registry. All users share one set of executables.
In addition, there is a ROOTDRIVE cmd file which can set a private home directory for each user. Typically this is the W drive, but it can be assigned any letter as needed. This allows an application to be configured for, say, a default file directory of W:\documents and it will actually be a different location for each user. It saves having to log in as each user and configuring the apps - one default configuration can work for each user and still keep each users' files stored seperately.
Also note that some apps, such as Office 2K, require a customized installer script to install properly. The tools for this are on the Office 2K Resource Kit CD as well as available for free download from Microsoft.
I have installed FP DOS, FPW, and VFP 3, 5, and 6 in a Citrix environment. I haven't tried VFP 7 yet. DOS versions work ok, although they may require a utility such as TAME to keep from stealing too much CPU time while looping for input. Same with FPW, and graphics performance over slow links is rather poor due to the bitmap UI. VFP3 runs, but also suffers from poor performance in screen redraws. VPF 5 and 6 were fine, VFP 6 is definitely the fastest.

>For Citrix/Terminal Server installations, does each user typically have their own directory on the server where applications that normally reside on the workstation are installed (ie. MS Office)? We have a client using Windows NT Terminal Server, and we don't want to have contention issues from users trying to share the same workstation directory.
