Thanks for the reply. These are massive servers with an ezcess of 2Gig of RAM. All hardware checks out fine. What my line of thinking is starting to go towards a limitation on SQL2000's side. On SQL 7.0 these jobs worked great, but there seems to be a point of no return for SQL2000. If anything comes to mind please let me know.
