Alt-tabbing between languages was a sport I practiced a lot while I worked in Hungary. Speaking Serbian with my part of the team most of the day (we were roommates as well), Hungarian with the rest of the world, reading all the docs and help in English, and occasionally running into someone who spoke Russian - all in one day, well, that was some experience. I didn't get the languages confused, though, I got the who-speaks-what confused. Even back in 1971 wen I was the jokes-translator-in-charge during a vacation, it happened to me that I translated a Serbian joke into English to a Belgrader... and oh, did he have a puzzled look on his face :).

But it started later - once during a wine sampling (won't mention the size and length of the samples) in Hungary there were some German people, and I tried to pick up whatever German I remembered... and found that all the holes in my knowledge of German were filled with Hungarian words. I also mix Italian and Spanish a lot - if I need a word, and I remember it in one of them, it takes time to remember the word in the other one... or it never comes at all. I actually don't speak any of Italian, German, Spanish or French, but I do understand a lot, and I may even emulate speaking, given enough beer :).
