It almost looks like vfp is checking to see if it can fit another record on the page and using the whole height of the detail band to check how much space it needs (even if the next record is only two rows when printed). What can I do to get rid of this space? Do I need to float all the fields in the detail band?

Deb,
I helped someone else with a similar issue just recently. See thread #
572824 for details (don't let the title fool you). The result was that I had to take his report and break the multiple detail lines into individual groups or the space at the bottom of each page would not decrease. It was almost like Foxpro was reserving the space depending on the height of the detail band whether or not the fields were marked to not print when empty. If you want to send it to me with supporting data I would be happy to look at it for you.
