Anyone got that error message before: HRESULT 800a1450

I am calling a method to extract some data. I pass a date parameter. I can pass any date I want. I'll receive an XML string. However, if I pass today's date, there is something in the data being returned which is incompatible. Might this be caused by a special characters?
