Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had experience with VFP as a search engine for graphics. We've got a database of about 10,000 images (that can be converted into pretty much any format, but we were thinking of jpeg or .gif) and we would like to be able to provide rapid searching to any image. This is not a candidate for a web interface, we don't think, as rapid searching is much more important than the fact that it is deployed over an html form interface.

The app is butt-simple; just a flat file with about 4 attributes for each image. We'd like to be able to provide a set of "video recorder buttons" to click from one image to the next.

I'm wondering:
1. Would we store the actual images in the .dbf or just pointers to external image files?

2. If we store the images in the in the .dbf should we use the general field or a binary memo field?

3. Are their classes available which make all this easier?

Thanks for any ideas.
