Thanks for the info Randy. I was wondering if you could expand on this. My understanding, and I stand to be corrected, is that in consuming Web Services, all I'm receiving, basically, is plain old text. Every time I go to a website, I 'receive' text and images embedded in the HTML - and don't require a special Firewall Client for that.

My reason for asking is that our network people are vigilant about network security as our organization provides IT services to financial institutions - and I want to come to them with as much ammo as possible to hopefully convince them that my request for a firewall client to allow me to consume Web Services will not result in network security exposure.

Having to approach the network team and make this request without an explanation as to why I need the Firewall client to consume Web Services would be as much fun as having a root canal performed without a needle. <g>

Thanks again for your response.

>Yes, you will need a Firewall Client. Here at MSFT, we use the ISA Firewall Client, but you should contact your sys admin person who controls the Firewall to get the appropriate client software for the specific Firewall software you are running.
