You cannot do this within a single statement.
"APPEND FROM" could not be part of the SELECT - SQL statement.
So, in your case this will look probably as following 3 commands:
Select tableA.field5 as fieldtotal ;
FROM tableA INNER JOIN tableB ;
ON tableA.namefield = tableB.namefield ;
WHERE tableA.datefield = tableB.datefield ;
into cursor crsTemp
SELECT MyTableForAppending
APPEND FROM dbf('crsTemp')
