Mike You can try what Gérald said you can do this with paint shop pro when you said decrease colors you can specify standard / web safe this way all the bmp's will share the same palette and this should resolve your problem.

>I see Alexandre, it does make sense to me now but I'm not sure what to do about it, here is how our app works :

>Screen 1 The login screen, has a full colour image of a city scape on it. It also has some Block Colour areas fillled with yellow and cyan and stuff. Generally that screen is ok, except sometimes at low res (256) when you click on the box to enter your name and password the full colour image goes a bit skew and appears all "funny" is the only way I can describe it.
>
>Screen 2 Really just contains bitmap images on the button icons, we had them at 256 but have since dropped them down, which of course took away all their lovely XP-style look and feel but what can you do. Screen 2 also contains some blocks of colour used to signify areas of the screen.

>Screen 3 is similar to screen 2, i.e. bitmaps in the icons and blocks of colour.

>With both Screen 2 and 3 its generally fairly well behaved now that we have reduced everything in colour but sometimes it seems to just go crazy, for example switching from screen 2 to 1 can sometimes cause all funny sorts of browns to appear on the block colours, often making the text un-readable.

>Any ideas on what I should try ? I mean were not doing anything too crazy in the app by using a few bitmaps on buttons and also a few block colours. At this stage nearly all the Bitmaps have been reduced to 16 colours but of course they do not necessaryly share the 16 colours between them so on the form we are probably using a good few colours.

>Is there anyway to Set the Palette To something rather than just on and off, I mean people other than me must be coming across this problem a long time ago. Or is it unusual to try and support users on 256 colours nowadays ? I know I've been on higher res than that for years but I thought we should support that level just in case ?
