I racked my brain over this problem and found that any heavy access (packing / indexing) caused the problem. Mrxsmb would lose all of the data. One of the most frustrating event log messages I have ever seen.

I added code to our framework to resolve the UNC path back to a local path when performing those operations and that eliminated the problem (in one case we had to temporarily create a map to W: to perform the operation then release the map).

We have several clients with multiple servers and TS and that workaround has worked for them (so far).

The problem has also surfaced on clients with a single server running SBS2K.
