You can using VBScript/JavaScript. You can create an instance of the object using the ClSID and go from there. However, the drawback to this is that some users (myself included) have their browsers set up to not allow the use of ActiveX controls by default. I have mine set to prompt me everytime an ActiveX control is created or accessed. It's annoying but it's better than the alternative.
