Wes,

Ignoring the issue of keeping Clipper .NTX index files up-to-date, we encountered lots of weird problems when using VFP 6 (all service packs) to update Clipper DBF files. No problems reading Clipper files.

Interestingly enough, we had NO problems reading and writing Clipper DBF files using FP 2.6 for DOS.

So our solution was for our VFP code to post changes to 'shadow' tables and then a nightly update application written in FP DOS would read the shadow tables and update the production Clipper tables.

We were fortunate that the nature of the application in question (a database containing Worker Comp data) lent itself to this awkward process.

Good luck!
Malcolm

>We may be converting a Clipper program to VFP 7. Problem is we have to read/write live Clipper tables during development. There are about 12 modules accessing the data and the customer wants on module at a time converted.
