All well and good, but when I save and close the form, the Properties page is still open, now showing me properties for the screen. VFP 6 didn;t do this. Is there any way to turn off this 'feature' so the Properties page goes away when the item it relates to is closed?
> Number two is the behavior of the toolbars. If last used in docked mode, each time you open an item that has it's own toolbar (Form Design, Database Container) the associated toolbar opens, but each on it's own line at the top, no matter how much space is still available. The CAN all fit on one line, because I move them there myself. It's annoying because if I have a project docked, plus a standard toolbad, then am workin o a form and pop open the DBC to look at something, I now have 4 lines of toolbars at the top and it starts eating display space. Obviously one solution is to NOT dock any toolbars, then they float near or on the associated item, but I also like the docked view. Is there any way to force docked toolbars to one line, or limit the space used by toolbars? A 5 icon toolbar does NOT need the entire screen width to itself.

Randy,

I reported the same toolbar behavior in Thread # 578304 on 11-06-2001 and it may have been mentioned peviously. Jim Saunders of MS asked for info to reproduce, which as you noted is quite easy. Just dock a toolbar with a form! VFP6 did not behave this way, and the current behavior is INTOLERABLE!!!!

I love the VFP development language, but I have never been very happy with IDE behavior. In VFP6, editor properties wouldn't stick. They seem to be better in VFP7, although there is a current thread here about line number setting not sticking.

The View | Show Position setting continues to be unreliable. Set it on, edit a form, and all of a sudden it not longer displays on the status bar. Uncheck it, open the menu and check it back on, and it works again, for a while. I can't define a scenario to consistently reproduce, but it happens often enough to be a PITA. This has been true in VFP6 and VFP7, and on several different machines running Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows 2000 Pro.

BTW, The PEM sheet remaining open you mentioned is actually a new feature. Notice it exposes the properties of _SCREEN when no form is displayed for editing.

Bottom line, VFP7 has some nice new features, but the IDE is still unstable, and getting worse!!!
