Actually that is what I working on... and I dont know, if there is a good answer.

Talking with a friend of mine last last about the subject, (who is a unix / linux guru) and C++ fan, he told me the simplicity of using SAMBA to create - or redirect print requests to gs is something that NT cant eaisly duplicate. Because Linux / Samba can create printer drivers easily, and in Windows you really cant.

What you can do, and maybe one of our associates here, can jump in tell us both how to put the final pieces of the puzzle togher, is

1 you can get gs installed,
2 GS comes with a batch file, called ps2pdf, which really does nothing more than call gs with a infile and outfile parameter , infile being a ps file, and outfile being a pdf file.
3 you can create ps files, by using any number of 'free ps print drivers' out there. Here is one.

http://www.adobe.com/products/printerdrivers/windows.html

But that last part, how do you automate NT, to call the ps2pdf batch file, whenever a print file is created into a directory... Does windows have Scripting host have a on event , where it could fire up,a batch file when a .ps file lands in a folder ?

So far, the best my pea brain can say,is I could have an AT command, run evey 5 mintues, to run through evertyhing in a folder converting it to pdf files. (I know, it a sucky option)

This is why my original post I thought was so clean, that it could be done in Linux. using spool files etc.

Maybe someone smarter in the windows API, than myself, could tell us all, how this challange could be done.

In the beginning, there was a command prompt, and all was well.
