Foxuser gets my vote. Good idea not to discount the possibility of it being a hardware problem though. We had a customer support call once where the customer got the error "Variable '' is not found" running any wizard in VFP6, but otherwise VFP worked fine, as did all other applications. Turned out it was a bad processor chip. I would never have guessed 'processor' from the symptom...
