Ok - I assumed that it would convert from one format to another when I switched.

>If I understand what you're saying, yes, each design area is separate. If you start with 32x32 @ 256 color, paste the image, when you switch to 32x32 @ 16 color, the design are will be clear and you have to paste again. But the image you pasted at 32x32 @ 256 isn't lost.
