I think that the BEGIN/END TRANSACTION around the DO XXXXX (where TableUpdate() is done) sequence (NOT around the INSERTs) was what was prescribed, but based on other results I'd guess no difference anyway.

I hope that gets an answer. It should be very interesting.

Disabling of the write cache, I would have thought, would have surely done the trick.

A UPS may be the only short-term solution, OR some specialized HD controller that definitely can handle cache flushing AFTER a power failure. I've read that they do exist.
