In an application such as a POS system or a touchscreen kiosk, the user is generally not allowed to go to control panel. The developer should have full control of the appearence in this situations.
However, I don't really see what the big deal is. I wouldn't think it would be that difficult to create a custom class based on a shape or container that would have commandButton functionality.
