DB2 was licensed on the z90 mainframes, which we are moving away from too, AND, we don't want to be using two RDMSs at the same time. Also, we have made a decision not to bring up any new projects in VFP, but to use Oracle. We won't be converting existing apps over anytime soon, so that is why I stated in another msg a while back that I probably will be supporting VFP apps till I retire in 5 to 10 years, depending on when the Alzhimers sets in... Just before our adoption of Oracle I had just completed development of one of the largest Dept of Rev applications, called Gaming. It has 24 executables and several hundred tables, and hundreds of queries, reports, etc... It took three years to develop. With a Linux clone of VFP being released by Recital Corp sometime next quarter it would be interesting to see how Gaming would play in that tool, on Linux. Looks like fun ahead!
