Thanks Ed.

I tried modifying my search on the Internet: I tried searching for ASPI instead of SCSI and found an ActiveX control to talk to ASPI. Only $99 for the object. I've looked at the samples and it looks pretty simple to use.

You're going to at a minimum have to talk to the SCSI miniport driver, and in all likelihood, will need to use the raw SCSI protocols to do this. I'd suggest looking to see if Adaptec or Roxio have support for the device using their SCSI Explorer products; if you have to handle blocking/deblocking and translation, it's a whole lot of work, that'll probably make the NovaStor solution look cheap. I wrote products to do this sort of thing to take tapes from S370s and AS400s using an HP SCSI-1 interface 9 Track and the old Maynard SandStar card a long time ago, and even at several hundred dollars a copy never came close to recovering the cost of development.
