You are not looking at the dumb-terminal idea the right way... this could end up being faster than the current scenario of a pc. Remember that the users will be running your application on an extremely fast server instead of a desktop pc. And there will be no delay in the access of data because they are right next to each other.
I implemented a Citrix solution (VFP5 app) of an application that ran in a browser - and I could run that application and get better response in the browser than when I ran it on my local harddrive. The Citrix server had 1gb RAM, 4 processors (not that VFP could take advantage of that), fast SCSI drives, RAID, etc.
The display of information on the terminal is normally lightning fast as well - these things are made to only send the images back and forth and the protocols are designed with that in mind - and they work.
