I tried out the recent example of COM+ outlined by Marcus Eggar in Foxpro Advisor and encountered a couple of issues and would be interested in any other feedback.
One - the events made available for subscription do not seem to fire their own method code. Does this mean you have to fire dummy methods in the target Application in order to allow Subscribers to hook them. This seems to detract from the concept. I as hoping to be able to piggy back on existing events with a published interface.
Two - at the end of the article Marcus discussed using a Subscriber filter to stop unnecessary object instantiation. I found the COM+ event raised an application error on the Filter expression -
If the filter was something like 'CheckValue>5000' then the error is on the >5000 part of the expression even thought the datatype was specified as Number.
Any ideas on either of these points ?
