As Nick said, in most cases this is the rowsource that is incorrect with a rowsourcetype of field. The most common error is that the alias was used on all of the field names in the rowsource when it should only be used on the first field listed as in;

Rowsource = Customer.Company City, State

and not;

Rowsource = Customer.Company, Customer.City, Custeomr.State
