COM/DCOM and OLE Automation
Hi Mike,
I agree, there are lots of other ways to send email -- and Outlook is one of the worst. Unfortunately, sending email is the least of my worries.
Our application is a contact management system with around 15000 users. We built an interface to enable our users to export to and import from Outlook, partly to give them a relatively painless method of talking to their Palm Pilots, HPCs, and other PDAs. It's with this import/export routine that we get the most complaints from people who have made the mistake of being on the Office "Bleeding Edge". We actually tell our users NOT to use Office XP, and NOT to install the Office 2000 SP-2 nor the security patch.
We've tried Outlook Redemption, which gets around this mistake of Microsoft's, but it is not quite ready for prime time.
