Hi Marcia
If column 1 has a columnWidth of 0, it will still be used for the display value

Exactly, the field the combo works off is column 1 (steetname) but I want to display column 2 (streetno) before column 1 (streetname). Hence by duplicating column 1 as column 3 (street name) in my fields(columns) list and giving column 1 (the display value) a '0' width (ie. hide it) I can have a streetno-streetname dropdown on a streetname field. (eg.
. Universal Street. ¥
. 12 Universal Street
. 159 Universal Street
. 267 Universal Street
. 569 Universal Street
How many address???

The Work Order system is being designed to track and follow maintenance on customers houses (customer's clients). In the instance under consideration this can be 5000+ hence the desire to quickly reduce the quantity that the user has to choose from.
It was my intention to hold the key range to a null set until about two or three characters and then 'pop' the combobox with the remaining set. This could still be quite large 50+. The user can also put in partial street number to further filter the combobox.
It may be that I should perhaps be using a list box but this would require a significant amount of extra code and at this stage I have no prototype to work off.
