As much as I'd like to run my app on Linux, I don't know if its actually that worthwhile. I imagine that anyone looking to creating a system based on Linux would have priority in large data sets with some security. Reading the specs on VFP's cursor engine, the 2gb limit woudl most likely be laughed at, same with the security, or lack of, built in to the DBF/DBC. Based on that, porting the database would be an unjustified expense.

I suppose it all depends, what do you want to do from Linux? Perhaps it would be more worthwhile to port certain parts of the langauge to Linux and not others. I haven't seen any sort of discussion like that in this thread, which I think may be useful. Not that I have any answers here, I'm just opening this up for discussion.
