This has happened to me without VSS. I thought it had something to do with the builder. Apparently the cursor objects are added to the dataevironment container through hacking the vcx using the builder. For some reason, sometimes things go awry and this funky corruption happens. That's why it necessary to delete the cursors and add them back in. I suppose you could use the vcxedit utility and try to repair the problem manually.
