Makes sense re. read-only, but I can't remember that part and the archives for the last 2 years doesn't show a thread with the read-only metadata source of the problem.
I'm going to test the AddDataAccessToDe method in both the cAddDataAccessForm and the cDataEnvControls classes in CBuilder.vcx. This could a waste of time since it's probably a set of unique circumstances and JUSTSTEM() and it will take days of investigation... :)
