You should use CLOSE TABLES or CLOSE DATABASE.
Even this is not required if you use the (recommended) private datasessions in a form: a form with private datasessions closes all its tables automatically on close.

You can't delete a message. You can, however, edit a message, but only if nobody answered it.
In this case, I would recommend: just leave it.
