I had no hangs running either Kylix DE or Kylix OE on my SuSE 7.2 and 7.3
RH7.0 is notorius for being buggy, but most of the time I find the xserver instability is due to an improper setup of the xserver, i.e., wrong horz and/or vert frequencies, choosing an unsupported resolution (that appears to work but stresses the hardware and leads to failure) etc...
